One thing that I've said when being asked why I'm doing photography is that I want to help people feel beautiful, especially since the mental health crisis that hit with COVID. I know that I was personally impacted by it, my anxiety rose and my serotonin decreased. The picture that you see is a representation of the depression and anxiety that has been felt by millions of people on a daily basis. Makaylah's hair is messed up to show resistance of self-care, and her dark clothing is meant to represent the darkness felt within those who felt alone. The multi-coloured cool-tone lights seen behind her are meant to represent the combination of emotions Makaylah is feeling; depressed, lonely, anxious, manic, etc.
I believe that this image also shows the struggle of not only dealing with mental health, but also the difficulties of being a student during COVID times. The colourful lights in the back not only represent different mental health issues, but it also represents the digital age, as many university and college students are choosing to get their degrees or dipolmas online to avoid another possible COVID outbreak, and the isolation one feels when doing so.

This was one of the first images I've taken. I always look back at this photo for encouragement when I'm feeling a lack of inspiration to do photography. I although it is old, and has been seen multiple times throughout my accounts I will always share it because my first goal as a beginner photographer was to get a shot of a bee... and I did.

I wanted to take a picture to show the essence of old Hollywood. I wanted to highlight certain parts of my model's face, and shade different areas. Mostly, i just wanted the rounded spotlight.
